Staff Machine Learning Engineer
As a Staff Machine Learning Engineer at Cohere Health, you will play a pivotal role in the Enterprise ML team, focusing on enhancing and scaling machine learning capabilities within the Intake product. This position involves applying advanced machine learning techniques, including large language models and agentic architectures, to complex clinical and operational workflows. Your contributions will directly impact the automation of decision-making processes, improvement of data quality, and reduction of administrative burdens for clinical teams.
In this role, you will be responsible for designing, building, and deploying sophisticated machine learning systems for various applications such as retrieval, classification, prediction, and generative tasks. Your day-to-day activities will include extracting insights from large-scale structured and unstructured healthcare datasets, leading model development across the ML lifecycle, and developing scalable, reusable codebases and ML infrastructure to support production use cases. Collaboration with cross-functional teams, including product managers, clinicians, data engineers, and design teams, will be essential to translate business and clinical needs into robust ML solutions.
The ideal candidate will possess a Master's degree (PhD preferred) in Computer Science, Data Science, Machine Learning, or a closely related quantitative field, along with over 8 years of professional experience in applied machine learning or data science, including ownership of production ML systems. Deep expertise in Python and modern deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch is required, as well as hands-on experience building and deploying deep learning models for NLP tasks. A strong understanding of experimental design, model evaluation, and optimization for real-world production environments is essential, along with experience leveraging cloud platforms, preferably AWS, across the ML lifecycle.
Cohere Health offers a fully remote opportunity with approximately 5% travel.
