Staff/Principal Full Stack Software Engineer
Axon is seeking a Staff/Principal Full Stack Software Engineer to join our team in Boston, Massachusetts. This role focuses on developing Axon Records, a cloud-based records management system designed to modernize how law enforcement agencies capture, manage, and access data. Our mission is to reduce the time officers spend on paperwork, allowing them to dedicate more time to community engagement.
In this position, you will lead engineering architecture design reviews, set high technical standards through code and architecture evaluations, and mentor fellow engineers. Collaborating across Product, Design, and Engineering teams, you will address complex technical challenges and enhance our engineering processes, including long-term planning and sprint management. Your work will involve building services that meet high availability and low latency requirements, utilizing the latest open-source technologies.
The ideal candidate has over 8 years of experience in full stack software engineering and holds a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field. You should have a proven track record of building complex and impactful software in team environments, designing and delivering scalable cloud-based systems, and writing maintainable code for backend microservices. Proficiency in backend languages such as Go, Java, or Scala, frontend experience with JavaScript, TypeScript, and React, and strong SQL database skills are essential. Additionally, an interest in shaping the technical and organizational direction of a growing engineering team across multiple global locations is highly valued.
