Staff Product Designer, Growth
Block, formerly known as Square, is seeking a Staff Product Designer to join its Growth Product Design team. This team focuses on enhancing how customers engage with Square's product experience, aiming to drive adoption, build trust, and support long-term retention. The role involves designing thoughtful, high-quality experiences that help sellers onboard, activate, and succeed across Square's ecosystem.
As a Staff Product Designer, you will collaborate closely with product managers, engineers, data scientists, and fellow designers to define strategy, shape roadmaps, and deliver end-to-end solutions. Your work will involve designing product experiences that help sellers onboard, activate, and succeed across Square’s ecosystem—focusing on mobile-first, high-impact touchpoints. You will also be responsible for balancing quick iteration with high-quality execution, contributing to both vision work and shippable UI.
The ideal candidate should have over 8 years of experience in product design, with a portfolio demonstrating strong interaction design and problem-solving skills across mobile and web platforms. Experience in designing for native mobile applications (iOS and Android), including nuanced transitions and platform conventions, is essential. A systems thinker who can map out complex flows and attention to detail at every step is required. Experience driving measurable outcomes, such as increasing engagement, activation, or retention, is also important.
