As a Staff Software Engineer in the Transaction Journey organization at Compass, you will lead the design and development of services that enhance the consumer experience and support the growth of our scalable brokerage platform. This role involves building a collaborative transaction management platform that streamlines the process of buying and selling homes, enabling agents to manage transactions from initial contact to close, including accessing forms, sending documents for electronic signature, and managing offers.

Key responsibilities include providing strategic direction and ownership of Compass's software architecture, building and scaling the platform that empowers real estate professionals, and becoming a domain expert in real estate technology. You will inspire, recruit, and mentor fellow engineers, lead in architecting our distributed microservices architecture, and operate in a scalable engineering culture that leverages modern principles of decoupled systems and automated CI/CD/testing/monitoring to drive efficiencies.

The ideal candidate will have a BS in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience, with a track record as a technical leader with cross-team impact. You should have over 10 years of experience developing comprehensive, well-tested, and high-performance software applications, with programming experience in languages such as Java or Go. Experience with gRPC, Thrift, and other server-to-server communication protocols, as well as Kafka and event-driven systems, is essential. Additionally, you should have over 5 years of experience using AWS/cloud technologies and high proficiency in designing and implementing microservices.
