Staff Solutions Engineer
The Staff Solutions Engineer at Block plays a pivotal role in driving complex partner and merchant integrations within the company's expanding commerce ecosystem, including Afterpay, Cash App Pay, Clearpay, and Cash App Afterpay. This position involves close collaboration with business development, sales, and product teams to deeply understand customer needs, showcase Block's APIs and services, and solve challenging technical problems that accelerate adoption.
Key responsibilities include partnering with Sales and Account Management to support sellers integrating with Block's platform and co-selling the Developer Platform. The role also involves designing and delivering technical solutions, such as building proof-of-concepts, custom reports, sample integrations, and troubleshooting complex issues. Additionally, the Staff Solutions Engineer acts as a trusted technical advisor, translating business requirements into scalable integration approaches and advocating for best practices.
The ideal candidate possesses over seven years of experience in technical customer-facing roles, such as partner engineering, solutions architecture, or sales engineering, working with enterprise merchants or global partners. They should have deep hands-on technical expertise, including comfort with building APIs, debugging integrations, and guiding developers through complex implementations. Proficiency in full-stack development and at least one programming language is required, along with experience leading technical projects end-to-end in globally distributed, multicultural teams. A willingness to travel for onsite client meetings (10-20%) is also expected.
