Staff Wireless Software Engineer
Axon is seeking a Staff Wireless Software Engineer to lead the development of mission-critical communication systems for public safety professionals. This role involves designing and implementing wireless protocol stacks, transport abstraction layers, and real-time communication systems across Axon's devices. The position is based in Atlanta, Georgia, with a hybrid work schedule requiring onsite collaboration from Tuesday through Friday.
Key responsibilities include leading the design and implementation of wireless communication stacks such as LTE, 5G, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth. The engineer will architect low-latency, high-reliability push-to-talk and real-time voice transport systems, develop transport abstraction layers across multiple radios and networks, and optimize performance metrics like latency, jitter, and packet loss. Collaboration with RF, hardware, and firmware teams is essential to ensure end-to-end system performance.
Candidates should have over 10 years of experience in wireless software development, with strong proficiency in C/C++ within embedded or systems environments. A deep understanding of wireless protocols, experience working with modem vendors, and familiarity with real-time systems and low-latency audio transport are required. Strong networking fundamentals and experience debugging packet-level and radio-layer issues are also necessary.
Axon offers a competitive salary ranging from $168,750 to $270,000, along with benefits such as a 401k with employer match, discretionary paid time off, paid parental leave, and comprehensive medical, dental, and vision plans.
