Staff Wireless Software Engineer
Axon is seeking a Staff Wireless Software Engineer to lead the development of mission-critical communication systems for public safety devices. This role involves architecting and implementing wireless protocol stacks, transport abstraction layers, and real-time communication systems, operating at the intersection of RF, embedded systems, and cloud-connected software.
Key responsibilities include designing and implementing wireless communication stacks such as LTE, 5G, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth; developing low-latency, high-reliability real-time voice transport systems; optimizing performance metrics like latency and packet loss; collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure end-to-end system performance; and mentoring engineers while setting technical direction across projects.
The ideal candidate will have over 10 years of experience in wireless software development, strong proficiency in C/C++ within embedded or systems environments, deep understanding of wireless protocols, experience with modem vendors, real-time systems, and low-latency audio transport, as well as strong networking fundamentals and familiarity with RF performance constraints.
