As a Staff Wireless Software Engineer at Axon, you will play a pivotal role in developing next-generation mission-critical communication systems for public safety professionals worldwide. This position involves leading the architecture and implementation of wireless protocol stacks, transport abstraction layers, and real-time communication systems across Axon's devices. You will operate at the intersection of RF, embedded systems, and cloud-connected software, ensuring high-performance and reliable communication solutions.

In this role, your key responsibilities will include designing and implementing wireless communication stacks such as LTE, 5G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and mesh networks. You will architect low-latency, high-reliability push-to-talk and real-time voice transport systems, develop transport abstraction layers across multiple radios and networks, and optimize performance metrics like latency, jitter, and packet loss. Collaboration with RF, hardware, and firmware teams will be essential to ensure end-to-end system performance, along with driving modem integration and carrier certification efforts.

The ideal candidate will have over 10 years of experience in wireless software development, with strong proficiency in C/C++ within embedded or systems environments. A deep understanding of wireless protocols, including LTE, 5G NR, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, sidelink, or mesh, is required. Experience working with modem vendors, real-time systems, and low-latency audio transport is essential. Strong networking fundamentals and familiarity with RF performance constraints are also necessary.

Axon offers a competitive salary and 401k with employer match, discretionary paid time off, paid parental leave for all employees, and comprehensive medical, dental, and vision plans. Additional benefits include fitness programs, emotional and mental wellness support, learning and development programs, and employee resource groups.
