Storage Architect
Graphcore is seeking a Storage Architect to design, evaluate, and optimize high-performance storage architectures for our AI data centers. This role is critical in ensuring that our AI systems operate efficiently, with a focus on minimizing I/O bottlenecks that can impede performance. The successful candidate will be a resident expert on solid-state storage, particularly NVMe SSDs, PCIe topologies, and the Linux storage stack, contributing to the advancement of AI computing infrastructure.
Key responsibilities include leading the evaluation and qualification of NVMe SSDs from major vendors for deployment in high-density AI servers and clusters. The Storage Architect will design and optimize local server storage topologies, manage PCIe lane distribution, and ensure optimal data paths between NVMe drives, CPUs, and GPUs. Additionally, the role involves conducting performance profiling and tuning of the Linux kernel storage stack to maximize IOPS and bandwidth while minimizing latency.
The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field, along with over 12 years of experience in storage engineering and architecture, including at least 5 years supporting storage solutions in AI or hyperscale data centers. Expertise in the NVMe protocol, PCIe architecture, NAND flash characteristics, and SSD controller behavior is essential. Proficiency in Linux internals, performance profiling tools, and scripting languages such as Python and Bash is also required.
