Strategic Account Manager
The Strategic Account Manager at Block (Square) is responsible for managing a portfolio of approximately 50 mid-market sellers, focusing on retaining and expanding these accounts through tailored solutions and strategic growth initiatives. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver exceptional client service and drive business growth.
Key responsibilities include identifying opportunities for technical Square solutions to address customer needs, managing the execution of these solutions in collaboration with product, engineering, and finance teams, and negotiating contracts for use-case expansion and retention. The Strategic Account Manager also serves as the voice of the upmarket seller with product teams and provides white-glove client service to ensure the resolution of seller issues.
Candidates should have over five years of account management or sales experience, with a proven track record of over-performance on key metrics. Experience within the retail industry is preferred, along with a technical solutioning framework, including the ability to conduct requirements gathering. Strong project management skills, contract and pricing negotiation experience, and excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential.
Compensation for this role is market-based and varies depending on location. For example, in Zone D locations, the starting pay ranges from $108,200 to $162,200 annually, including target variable compensation.
