Systems Administrator (Linux)
Echodyne Corp is seeking a skilled Systems Administrator with strong Linux expertise to support and enhance our primarily Windows-based IT infrastructure. This role requires an individual who can operate confidently in hybrid environments while ensuring compliance with NIST cybersecurity frameworks and supporting export-controlled systems and data (EAR/ITAR). The successful candidate will serve as the organization's subject matter expert on Linux systems—driving secure configurations, system hardening, cross-platform integration, and documentation to meet both operational and regulatory requirements.
Key responsibilities include installing, configuring, maintaining, and securing Linux systems in accordance with NIST 800-171 controls. The role involves performing routine patching, updates, vulnerability remediation, and configuration management. Additionally, the Systems Administrator will manage Linux-based services such as systemd, Nginx/Apache, SSH, and syslog, as well as configure filesystems, storage, permissions, encryption, and backups in compliance with security requirements. Developing and maintaining automation scripts in Bash or Python to improve consistency and compliance is also expected.
The ideal candidate will have at least three years of hands-on Linux systems administration experience, preferably with Ubuntu. A strong understanding of system security, networking fundamentals, and hardening best practices is essential. Experience supporting systems governed by NIST 800-53, 800-171, or similar frameworks is required, along with the ability to work within and maintain export-compliant (EAR/ITAR) environments. Proficiency in Bash scripting and automation, as well as familiarity with Windows Server, Active Directory, Entra ID, and hybrid systems, is also necessary. U.S. person status, as required by ITAR, is mandatory.
