Technical Writer II, (Software)
Axon is seeking a Technical Writer II to join our Product Enablement team, focusing on software documentation. In this role, you will collaborate with Product Managers and Engineers to create content that enhances customer understanding of our products and services. Axon is dedicated to protecting life through innovative public safety technologies, and this position offers the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to that mission.
Key responsibilities include writing and updating release notes, end-user guides, administrator and developer documentation, and UI strings for Axon products. You will build deep customer empathy and continually improve documentation based on feedback. Collaboration with cross-functional teams such as Product Management, Product Design, Engineering, Customer Support, Training, Marketing, Account Management, and Sales is essential. Additionally, you will perform content analysis, develop documentation plans for new features and products, and evangelize best practices for technical communications across Axon, including AI workflow enhancements.
The ideal candidate will have over 5 years of experience in technical writing or a related discipline, with a demonstrated ability to apply AI tools to accelerate technical content production. Strong writing skills for diverse audiences, including non-technical end users, IT experts, and business decision-makers, are required. Experience producing user documentation such as installation guides, configuration guides, and online help is essential. Familiarity with both hardware and software products is preferred, along with strong working knowledge of style guides and industry practices. Proficiency in HTML and markdown editors, project management experience, and familiarity with tools like MadCap Flare, Atlassian JIRA, and Adobe InDesign are also desired.
